Wreaths and Doors

I've been busy.

Nicole made a book wreath ions ago. Every. Single. Time. I walk by it I say "I still need to make me one of those."

So I finally did.

I've been loving them ever since they popped up in the blog world.

About a month ago, I stumbled across Emily's blog Jones Design Company and I fell in love with her home. The feeling her home gave off (to me) was the exactly what I was wanting to go for in our new home, but I've been having a hard time putting my finger on the right way to go about it. I've since spent hours staring at her blog and studying the pictures of her home. I'm a stalker, I know.

When I saw she hung a book wreath on her front door. I ran to the store to finally get the supplies to make my own. I love wreaths on front doors, but they are so dang pricey. Even if you make your own. I cannot tell you how many times I've stared at wreaths at Hobby Lobby and could not bring myself to buy one even at 50% off. This wreath however is super cheap and easy to make. I didn't do a step-by-step since you can find them everywhere in the blog world.

I used Emily's tutorial for my book wreath.

Here is Nicole's tutorial.

Yes, the tutorials are different and our book wreaths ended up with a different look. I love both looks.

I loved the way it turned out. So much so I am already starting on another one for inside the house. I have found myself wondering onto the front porch to stare at it, so I figured I needed one for the inside to stare at.

Also, not sure if you noticed, but back to the end of summer, I got the idea to paint our front door. I wanted something that would stand out since the front of our house is nothing nothing but brick and white columns. Unfortunately, it did not turn out like I was visioning.

It was downright ugly in my opinion. So, that is why I never posted anything about it.

I decided to not rush into painting it again and looked for some front door inspirations on blogs. After about a month, I finally decided to paint it black. Always a classic.

After stalking Emily's home, I saw that she too had a black front door. She however, took it one step farther and painted the inside of the door. So, I totally copied.

I LoVeD it!!!

In fact, I loved it so much that I've decided to paint all our exterior doors black.

Now I no longer have to look at this...

Nasty hand prints all over the door. They drive me insane. A problem now fixed.

And since I was on a roll last week, I decided to go ahead a whip up one of these...

It's a wreath made from folded up coffee filters.

The Nesting Place posted these earlier in the week and we decided that it would make a great reason to have an excuse to spend all day together. So, after a two day search for wreaths (a long story...yes, we should have just got them from hobby lobby....lesson learned), we spent ALL day Saturday giving ourselves third degree burns.

But, we were pretty thrilled with the results. I promise they look much better in person than my picture. The settings on my camera are off and I'm working on getting them back to normal.
