It was a good one.

I'm a fan of this time of year (for a week or so at least).

A fresh start, a clean slate....it's honestly one of my favorite times of the year.

As I started to reflect over the past year, my honest first response was "so long!" However, when I really started thinking about it, I realized 2012 was much kinder to us than I originally thought.

Actually, it was a good one.

Which is kinda ironic, because for awhile there, we would always joke that odd number years were kinder to us than even numbered ones.

That's not to say it was nothing but fun.  The year did bring a couple of downers with it, but overall, the good outweighed the bad.

For a quick recap.....

The past year brought us:

~a job promotion for David that we had been waiting about four years for.

~we celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary and thirteen years together .

~a trip to Arizona, two trips to the beach, a trip to Disney World, several trips to Nashville and a trip to Virginia to visit family, and our first "alone" trip since before we had kids.

~I ran my first 5k, 8k, 10k, and half marathon.  Altogether, I got six races under my belt but most importantly, I set a goal and actually reached it.

~The opportunity to downsize and live closer to family.  Something we had been wanting for sometime.

~Obviously the greatest thing it brought....after years of whys, tears, and prayers, we found out we were pregnant with baby Mabes #2.

So, 2012 was a good one.  Honestly, it was almost too good.  So much so, it makes me worry what this year will bring.  I try to be a pretty positive person majority of the time, but at times I cannot help but to think that way.

Regardless of my thinking, I'm still excited for what this new year will bring us.

My only real wish for this new year is that it brings us a healthly baby this next July.....and maybe a vacation to the beach in the Fall.

I feel that way too - when things are "too good" I tend to wonder what awful thing is around the corner. I hope that this coming year is just as full of blessing and wonderfulness as the last. Especially since you're having another little one! (o:
